T amarindo is the perfect base for Costa Rica’s world class sport fishing.

With the continental shelf a mere 10 miles offshore, blue water species, including blue, black and striped marlin, pacific sailfish, dorado, yellowfin tuna, wahoo, fall within a short run of all of our captains. Right inside Tamarindo Bay are parked a variety of boats for every sports fishing option. You can choose from a budget-priced, single engine panga to the fully equipped state-of-the-art electronics, bathroom equipped luxury boat for your seafaring adventure.

Tamarindo truthfully boasts a 12-month fishing season, with certain months excelling for different fish. Marlin can be caught year round, but your best shot is mid-January until April, when as many as 6 can be raised in a day. Likewise sailfish are ever present, although they are in bigger numbers from April until August where some days fishermen have been known to raise (and release) in excess of 50. Bottom fishing for snapper is confined to April until December which also coincides with the best months for dorado and yellowfin tuna.
