Few places on this planet offer so many wonders in such a small area as Costa Rica, with just 51,100 square kilometers harboring 6% of the biodiversity in the world. Across the seven provinces of San José, Alajuela, Heredia, Cartago, Puntarenas, Guanacaste, and Limon 25% of the territory are protected areas made up of National Parks, Land Reserves, Marine Biological Reserves, and other wilderness areas. An interesting fact is that you can go from the Pacific Coast to the Caribbean Coast in less than one day.
