Descriptions

The green iguana is a small lizard greater than it exists in Costa Rica, being the males which gets to measure up to 4 meters in length, the females are smaller reaching at the most the 3 meters in length.

The green iguanas change of color as grow and grow as age. The young ones are green shining, whereas the mature individuals are gray greenish.

The dorsal surface of the head is covered by enlarged plates and symmetrically fixed. It has a circular plates to each side of the head has very, underneath the eardrum (characteristic that distinguishes to this species of any other).

It has of 18 to 20 pores that are greater in the males. Its contexture is enough strong, its tail is but the long one of its extremities arriving to be up to three times the size of the trunk.

Feeding

The iguana is herbivorous its diet includes great variety of leaves, stems, fruits, etc.

Distribution

It is possible to be found from Sinaloa and Veracruz (Mexico) to the tropical region of South America, and in many islands of the Caribbean, Costa Rica is distributed throughout low territories of both slopes to about 600 meters of altitude.
