Descriptions
This is a very large monkey, he weight around the 5 and 9 kg. The body is covered in reddish brown fur with the feet, and the tip of his tail and the forehead of a black color.
His extremities are very large, and his tail is prehensile. This monkey doesn't have the thumb opposed like the other primates. He moves very quickly and he is also very agile.
You can see them in troops of 15 to 40 individuals. We can find this kind of monkey on the courtyard of the houses as a pet, this is one of the reason this species is in extinction, but also is protected by the Wildlife Conservation Law number 7.317, of 1992, included in Appendix I of CITES.
Feeding
They are a fruit eaters, and important seed dispensers. They also feeds on young leaves and flowers.
Distribution
You can see them since Mexico to southeastern Panama, and in Costa Rica on both slopes (Caribbean and Pacific) from sea level to 1.800 m, and the limiting factor in his distribution is the lack of primary forest.
