Descriptions

It is a large and slender mammal, it weighs around the 25 to 43 kg. The white tailed deer has long legs end in hooves. His back is gray brown to reddish brown and the ventral area is white, that why is called the white tailed deer, and when its scared he move and lift his tail like a distraction for the predator or as a sing of alert. The young fawns are reddish brown white white spots, and you can see them in groups or in a lonely way.

They are active during the day and at night, often seen at dawn and dusk. During the mating period the males used to mark the territory using their urine, they reproduce seasonal or all the year, females gives birth to 1 or 2 young, caring for them for an entire year. His status is common to abundant and they are one of the most hunted species in Costa Rica.

Feeding

They feed on bushes, grasses, plants, fruits and leaves of a variety species.

Distribution

Ou can find from Canada to northern Brazil. In Costa Rica you can see them in dry forest, scrubland, pastures, savannas, farmland, and in both slopes the Caribbean and Pacific, and in the foothills of the mountains up to 1.400 m.
