Descriptions

The crocodile is the reptiles in form of greater small lizard of Costa Rica measures more than two meters in length, use its four legs to walk in the Earth, these legs are outside the inferior part of the typical animal of the reptiles and in the water it is impelled with the tail in oar form.

Their eyes are placed in the superior part of the head which allows to be completely submerged them in the water if which is seen and they be able to have a good perspective of the prey, they have two eyelids one external and another internal one that uses when this under the water.

The temperament of the crocodile is very different from the one from a Cayman since he is exponentially more aggressive and in addition is physically of greater size. Their nose it is in the end of the snout and the superior part, the nasal graves is able to close itself and to open itself to avoid that water by the nasal conduit enters when the reptile is under the water.

It has a pair of dorsal keels that continue over the tail between the crests of great volume lateral without being fused and form a unique crest. The fourth tooth of the inferior jaw stocking in a furrow opened of jaw superior to the level of the suture to premaxilar-maxilar and is visible with the mouth closed unlike the cayman.

Feeding

He feed mainly on fish, but they comprise of its diet small and medium mammals that cross themselves by their waters, like snakes, turtles and birds like herons, spatulas, etc.

Distribution

It is possible to be found from the south of Florida, the greater Mexico to Venezuela and Antilles.

In Costa Rica one is distributed mainly in both slopes near the coast in estuaries, matting, mangles, etc.
