Descriptions
They live in forests, lakes, lagoons and mangroves. They need clear and slow running waters, salt or sweet water with fishes that swim close to the surface.
Feeding
During the rainy season when the water is cloudy, they feed on fish, lizards, mammals or birds. They can spot fish while they fly at heights of 9 to 30 meters, they carry the food in their claws to a high spot and eats it there.
Distribution
They reproduce in Alaska and the central part of Canada all the way to the west of Mexico, Belize and Bahamas. It hibernates in areas between the south of U.S.A. and Argentina -Chile. It is a also found in the old continent. |
