Descriptions
The white nosed coati is medium sized, he weigh around the 3 and 7 kg. His body is dark brown to readish or yellowish brown. It has white rings around the eyes. The snout is mobile and long with some white hairs, and the feet have long powerfull claws.
They are diurnal and lives in social groups of more that 30 individuals (females, off-spring, and males). They sleep in the treetops, and they are excellent to climb and good seed dispersers.
Feeding
They are omnivorous, feeding on insects, and fruits, beetles, grasshoppers, crabs and turtle eggs, and they also forage on the ground, and in the trees.
Distribution
You can find them from the southwest of the United States to Central America, northern Colombia and Norwest to Ecuador. In Costa Rica it is found in all the country until up to 3000 m.
