Descriptions
The margay is medium sized, it weight around 2.6 to 5 kg. The body is slender with long legs, thick, long tail. The dorsal surface is light gray brown to golden with a pattern of rosettes with black borders and large thick ovals with a golden brown center. The belly is whitish with black markings and stripes. It has a short muzzle and large light brown eyes. It is nocturnal and solitary, they are the most arboreal felines in the Neotripics, and as much of the males mammals, he mark their territory with urine. They have one or two off springs per litter.
Feeding
It is a carnivorous animal. They mainly feed on terrestrial and arboreal mammals, birds, lizard and insects.
Distribution
From northern Mexico to northern Argentina. In Costa Rica it inhabits the low, middle and high elevations of the slopes up to 3.000 m.
